Dr. Rafael Pereira, DDS, MS

Dr. Pereira is a specialist in Periodontics with more than 20 years of clinical, academic, and research experience in Brazil and the United States. He completed his advanced training and earned a Master of Science degree through the prestigious Periodontics Program at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

Before going to Michigan, Dr. Pereira earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Brasilia (Brazil), one of the country’s top dental schools, followed by advanced residencies in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Implant Dentistry, a Master degree in Dentistry and numerous advanced courses and extensive international training in Oral Surgery and Implant Dentistry, both in Brazil and the United States. He also served as a University Professor teaching Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Periodontology, and Implant Dentistry in Brazil.

His dedication to research and clinical excellence has earned him prestigious awards, including the Donald Kerr Scholarship, the Benson Duff Fellowship, and recognition from the Michigan Periodontal Association for excellence in Soft Tissue Management and Esthetics. Dr. Pereira has published in peer-reviewed leading journals and contributed to academic textbooks in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and Implantology.

In addition, Dr. Pereira has provided patient care for many years in both private practice and hospital settings, treating complex cases in Oral Surgery, Trauma, Implantology, and Periodontal Therapy. He has also volunteered his expertise in underserved communities, offering surgical care to patients who otherwise lacked access to treatment.

Today, Dr. Pereira combines his passion for patient care and teaching, with a focus on delivering innovative, evidence-based treatments in implants and periodontal therapy, including full-mouth rehabilitation, bone and soft tissue regeneration. He is fluent in both English and Portuguese and remains committed to advancing oral health through education, science, and compassionate clinical practice.

Dr. Pereira lives in Jacksonville area with his wife Patricia who is also a dentist and their daughter Maria Clara.
